Weather in Mauritius
Mauritius enjoys a tropical climate moderated by the ocean, and receives from the south-east the freshness and the humidity of the trade winds. It is therefore cooler in the east, in principle. Microscopic climates occur frequently, sometimes within a kilometre of distance.
The north and west are dry (900 mm of rain per year).
The height of the central plateau hangs the clouds and it rains more often (4.5m per year).
Cyclones are raging in the region in January – February, the southern summer. They touched the island of Mauritius more or less hard, either simple rain or devastation.
